Hi dancers,

Hui Hui here. I'm not very good at words. Just like to tell all dancers that the seniors are all very proud of you guys. Some of u may be disappointed, but dont be. The other day, Tianju told me dance is very subjective. I totally agree. Dance is really subjective. So dont worry too much. To the seniors, you guys are great and I was present, I saw the performance the other day, I really enjoyed it very much! :D Everyone has improved and I see the unity. The last part of the dance where everyone danced together. There was power. I dont know how to describe it. Everyone was jus so united. I feel happy for u guys because I can tell that you guys have done your best and everyone is enjoying. You know although we were sitting very far from you guys, I could still see the smiles on your faces. That's why I am sure u guys enjoyed yourselves that day and I think that's the most important thing.

Sarah, you've done a great job in leading the dance group. You motivate them, encourage them. You r a gr8 leader! Also, to the other sec 4s you guys were great too. I've not seen you guys for some time. When i saw you guys on Tuesday, I felt that all of you have matured from little girls to young ladies. I think u guys really did a great job in guiding and leading the juniors. REALLY PROUD OF U GUYS! =D
To the other dancers, its because of all of u, that's why there's still chinese dance in CSS. After the Sec 4s step down, it'll be passed on to u guys le. Da jia yi qi jiao you ba! =D

Hey my dear juniors!

Hazel here. this is probably my first time making an entry here.. but I always blogged about my wishes towards you girls on my own personal blog.
I heard about the news.. i know nothing i say can make you girls feel better..but i just wanted to let you know how i feel..
True enough, when i heard about it, i was utterly shocked. devastated. Disbelief. etc. I was thinking.. "wth?! how is it possible?? the judges blind or wad?" but later on, i found out that the judging was extremely strict..by seven international judges. Attaining silver is considered remarkable already!
Seriously, when i watched you girls dancing earlier in the year, i was extremely impressed! The dance was so..wad should i say..elegant? graceful? those are all understatements. you girls rocked! really. i'm not saying this just to cheer you up..but i really mean it from the bottom of my heart. I'm sure the other seniors agree with me. The dance was far nicer than our item two years ago! infact, i was envious of you girls to have the opportunity to be part of such a magnificent choreography! =)
Really. do not be discouraged. we all know what you're really capable of. it's the judges fault for having such lousy judgement.
CHEER UP!
wad you all should do now is to train the new dancers well! CSS dance society is well-known to be outstanding! We are just giving the elite schools TEMPORARY satisfaction of beating us. we'll make a comeback! Are you girls with me? :)
If there's anyone that should be upset..it should be DingHong lao shi. I'm v worried for her as well. She may appear to be alright, but she probably feels extremely disappointed deep inside. i mean, that's only natural. These results must have dealt her with a hard blow. Do me a favour,alright? Show her that you girls are determined to perform even better next time! surpass everyone's expectations! Only your strong determination would cheer her up and motivate her to come up with even better choreography.
Being upset after a setback is fine. wad's most important is you're able to get up again after that.=)
I've said my piece. Do cheer up, my dear girls!

although we didn clinch the gold this year, DON'T FRET :) we'll have it next next year ! warm thank you to the seniors and the teachers ! but i still feel guilty towards dinghong laoshi, we didn get the gold for her and she feels remorseful ! she must be really sad.. really want to find her now and give her a WARM hug !! like sarah said, it's just a status ! :) even though we got silver, we got something else too ! bondings, love, care, confidence, passion and the friendship :) once again thank you seniors, if you want to scold us, please do, i know you guys must have felt terrible too.. thanks tianju for that long post. i really felt touched when you guys came back to help us.. and the juniors! you gus are really sweet !!!!!!!!! you make me feel even more guilty when we disappoint you, please dont give up on dance! you guys can do it !

hi all, tianju here=))

i would just like to express my thoughts about the past 2 days happenings. What happened over these two days really made me feel that I AM PROUD TO BE A CSS DANCER.

yesterday was a special day, it was syf 2007, together with marcela and huihui, we decided to return to css to show our jnrs support, i didnt thought of asking the others from jc as i thought they have lessons, but early in the morning, michelle msged me and asked me whether i am going, and she wants to go too, she specially asked for early leave. as soon as schools ended, i cabbed down to css and went straight to the dance room. i witnessed the usual familiar scene, everybody looking all flustered, trying to get everything ready in time. at that moment, someone appeared, and it was meijun, behind her was sinkuan. i was really shocked, i didn't expect that they would make a trip down as well. at that moment, i just felt so touched and happy, css dance is really a big family, we love and care for each other wherever we are. there were 7 generations of css dancers all together! oh yah! the sec 1s even made little gifts for the dancers, they were really sweet=))

the syf started with the rv item, i shan't comment much, but they are really good. next up was commonwealth, mandy started the dance with a solo, mengyu, crystal and sarah came on awhile later, and subsequently everyone else..as i watched the dance, i began to tear, maybe i just tear easily, but all i can say was i just felt so so so proud of our juniors. looking at the present sec 4s, who were then sec 2s, they;ve grown up so much...

i went back for about 3-4 syf practices, and i'm just so proud that they made it ultimately. during one of the most recent practices that i went back, i observed the practice session from break onwards, during the break, i saw the sec 4s working hard, practising their steps repeatedly, stretching diligently, some of the juniors following suit too, i still remember how we had to made them make use of the break time to practise their steps, now they are doing it themselves, because they are already the seniors, they know the importance, they are leading by example. during their actual practice for syf dance, as usual, they got scoldings from ding hong lao shi, and at times ding hong lao shi just looked exasperated. we had a talk with the com after the prac and found out that they had all been working hard, having additional practices on saturday mornings, with the seniors correcting each and every single formation, but somehow when they do it in front of lao shi, they just cannot get it right...all these were normal, we experienced it before too, but what really made me glad was when the com add on, 'but they've all really been working really hard, but somehow they just don't get it'. i was glad because, at the very least, they've put in their effort, they worked, they tried, i'm proud of them.

twice, what we hoped for didn't happen, we were left disappointed. we cried, we were devastated. but twice, i've felt it. the power of our bond, it's this special thing among css dancers. two years ago, when i told everyone the outcome, we cried and cried, two years later, today, they cried. but dancers, i just wanna say, we can all keep our heads high. we shared a common dream, two years ago and now. both times, we worked towards this common goal as css dance society, both times, we look back and we will find out that results is not the most impt thing. both times, we can all be proud of ourselves because we gave it all. and both times, we can look back at not only the results, but at what we gained from the journey to reaching our dream. as a senior, i looked on, and i realised it's the bond that we developed, it's the common love for css dance, the common concern for css dance, i was on the phone with meijun, marcela and huihui in the morning, all of us very concerned about you guys, and we all felt your pain and sadness. i talked to sarah on the phone and one of the first things she said was 'sorry, we didn't get gold with honours for you all', but dear dancers, gold with honours to us is not the most important thing, because no matter what happened, all the seniors will be very very proud of every single one of you, as we the seniors watched you guys yesterday, every single one of us were proud of you. you've gave it your all, you should have no regrets.

actually, i have my own personal blog, 2 years ago, apr 10, two days b4 our syf2005, i posted a post, i never told anybody about it, and i'll share it with all of you now,

this was what i wrote exactly on apr10th, 2 days b4 our syf 2 years ago, and this applies to the dancers then, and it also applies to the dancers now=))

cssdance experience will be one of the best experience in my life, we may not have gotten the best glory, but the bond we share, our love for each other and our common experience will always link us together, we are one big family. dear juniors, yours seniors are always with you and we are always so proud of you, no matter what, you guys are always the champion in my heart, nothing means much more than to see you guys grow to become mature dancers, because this is what cssdance do to us all. i never regret being part of it and i hope you guys too. you'll be sad, you'll tear, but remember, at the end of it, results may not matter as much, it is what you've given, and what you've picked up along this journey, once again, i'm really proud of every single on of your. I AM PROUD TO BE A CSS DANCER.

hey guys! clara here :) hoping to help save the blog too ^^ i bet the seniors miss us a hell lot so i've decided to post some of our happy moments !

to the seniors : we're now advancing to our syf, training very very hard, thank you very much for the infinite support ! if you're free on tuesday 17th April 2007, please come back to CSS and help us with the make ups and stuff ! we're really very slow with the make up and i dont think laoshi got the time to help us everyone of us with the makeups and hair accessories X:

Time passed very very fast and now, we ( the current sec 4s ) are gonna step down soon after the syf. it's gonna be like the " last " dance for all of us and i hope we could make use of the time together ): i finally understand how tianju's that batch feel during our previous SYF. the honour we're all aiming for.. and the stress we recieved.. it's all coming back to us. but this time around, we came back with more confidence, feelings and prepared. we're gonna get the Gold With Honours ! we'll bring back the good news! =D

we just had another half-dress rehersal. the photo below is for the seniors to have a sneak preview! :D it's not very clear though :X and i've posted some photos during our dance practices and our dance camp ! seniors, hope you guys enjoy the photos! i'll try to post more on tuesday, with our actual costumes and stuff..

Dear Dancers

Lynn here again. I did mean what i said about having a big reunion bbq at my place at the end of the year. so, in order for that to happen.. i need to know the approx number of people coming and which date to hold it on. I know this is excessively early, but the bbq pit at my place is very 'in demand' towards that time of the year and i need to get my dad to book it. Also since I anticipate a large number of people Im assuming its gonna take AGES for the word to go around and for everyone to get back to me. also since im very busy towards term 2 and 3, i thought i might start early. btw, my flight back is on NOV 30, so it definately wont be anytime before then.

um, I guess I should start off by asking for the list of people from each year level. COuld a volunteer from each yr level give me a list of names?? and if u guys wanna individually/collectively tell me which time periods you prefer:

1. 1st week of dec
2. 2nd week of dec
3. 3rd week of dec
4. 4th week of dec
also please indicate whether you want teachers to be there. i dont mind it either way, altho i do prefer it without the teachers, but tell me what u guys think.

and since I dont expect my parents to fund all this, a nominal fee will be charged. and o..this is purely a reunion for dancers so no other weird 'outside' friends... =) (unless he's a cute hunky guy over the age of 18)

as im typing this, a voice in my head asks me: what makes you think they even wanna come to your party? did u ask them if they want a party?

so... for those of you who dont.. you just wont be invited ;) but again, i live in the hope everyone wants to come to see everyone again.

Decided to post an entry! How can I not do anything when Lynn and Marc are trying so hard to revive this place? xD Thanks marc for updating the wall of fame! ((:

Well, so to begin with, this blog layout seems rather old and out-dated already..
Many of the people in the photos have already graduated.. So it's time for a new layout!

And I think many many many of the juniors don't even know the existence of this blog.. Sarah, if you're reading this, why don't you announce the blog address of this place, so every dancer knows about it? Make mdm chang visit too! :P
Then, I'm sure one of you guys should know how to make layouts right.. you all can do another one la. Afterall, I've graduated and I don't have up-to-date photos of you guys anymore. Hahah, I sound so old but it's true! =X

Anyway, lemme update about myself..
I'm studying in njc now, STILL DANCING! haha, chinese dance, together with wendy. ;)
Our instructor teaching in njc has connections with ding hong lao shi. and yeah, telling them you came from css dance society, taught by ding hong, gives you alot of prestige you know! =D cz lao shi is super well known. haha.

I haven't had much time to visit css again. the last time was the collection of results.. But i'm sure you guys improved alot already yups? all ready for syf ppl?! Ok I'm so jealous I think your costumes must be really nice.. haha, so better dance all out on that day okay!
Honestly, I really really really miss dancing in css alot. Cz lao shi is always so patient and she shows concern to every dancer la.. You guys must really treasure her alot yeah.. and of cause I miss you people.. haha.
And, try not to slack during dance ya..
Even if steps are not given to you, and even if lao shi is not busy with your formation, make the effort to move to a corner to revise your own steps.. it just takes a small group of people doing that to get the whole culture going.

Most importantly, don't get too stressed up about the competition! Learn to enjoy the process, and just make sure you guys dance to your maximum capability and leave no regrets once you guys step off the UCC stage. After fulfilling all these, the outcome of the results just ain't that important, yup?

Alright, jiayou okay! less than one month to go! I'll be practising hard too!!! XD
Really really hope you guys clinch a gold w honours this time round.

Yooohhooo, all the chinese dancers of commonwealth secondary school. =DDD
This is marcela, the discipline mistress of year 2006. Seriously, you should thank the discipline people who ended up reviving this blog. hahahaha. ok, I've updated on the "wall of fame" it's the has beens and the current committee. I don't really know who's who in joanne's batch. I only know there's liying, poh hui and lishan. But I don't really know your positions. SORRY!!! *sheepish smile*

I wanna add a calendar and pictures on the side near the "wall of fame" but I'm afraid of the space constraints. So I'll put that off until some comp expert comes along and offers help. *hint hint*

I went back on tuesday the 20th march to see your syf dance and costume, as well as your headdress. First of all, I love your costume! It's totally the ultimate fantasy of a dancer ok?!?! It's beautiful and I can tell it's going to be significantly cheaper than the other syf costume due to the lack of sequins and stuff. It's a good thing since it won't burn someone's pocket(maybe mrs teoh's) and will look pretty all the same! Issn't that great and practical! 'm a big fan already!

Your dance was nice too. But as I told you guys, it's gotta be tighter and neater. Your cohesiveness has got to show. And smile all the way. You think that your smile won't be seen as you're at some obscured position, but TRUST ME, every open-mouthed look, shagged look, whatever it is will be regretted once the judges or the camera zooms in on you. When the CDs come out and everyone watches, you'll be hiding behind your seats. ok la, I don't wanna be mean, but I know your seniors like sarah, minyi, binuan, celisse, clara and all have worked uber hard to get all of you to this stage. It's time to show your potential and go get that once lost gold with honours!!! Work hard ok! I know this is very cliched but you reap what you sow, with a bit of luck as well.

everyone who has graduated from commonwealth should do an update on where they are now (jc/poly), what theyre studying, what cca (it better dance!), single/attached.. etcetc.. just so, you know, everyone can keep in touch and we all know how everyone's going..cos i really wanna keep in touch with everyone who i havent spoken to in years.. but still think about like.. huihui, huiyi, qinghua, weiqi, qimin, etc (i havent forgotten ur names but there seriously are too many to type)

This is Lynn from 2005 speaking!.. man..i feel old.. hows everyone? This blog is soooo dead.. I was wondering how all you guys were and I had a look at the blog and decided to update it.. I also had a chat on msn with a fellow dancer from Joanne's year called Sinlin.. and yeah.. its great to talk to a complete stranger but still have a special connection.. which is why im suddenly devoting my time to update this… because what we have here is a great thing and I don’t want it to die off! so taking into account some people wont have a clue as to who Lynn is, Lynn was discipline head till 05 (she was only voted in because she's scary… at least that’s what I think)...so yeah before I forget, when I come back in December, we're SO having a reunion bbq at my place.. EVERYONE from my seniors to your juniors will be invited. I know its really far away.. but still, I like to look forward to such an event.
So just to update you on my life.. lol.. since everyone wants to know what im doing.. im in my final yr (like jc2) in Melbourne. Im still dancing.. I did jazz, contemp and ballet last yr, but cut down to ballet this yr. Im having my ballet exam in June so im really looking fwd to that.. I posted pics of my dance sch's annual performance 2006 on my rather dead blog: lustyouthnakednoxious.blogspot.com, so have a look if your interested …also im always involved in the school musicals because they need dancers, and I also performed for my school assembly on a few occasions.. Im in the process of arranging dance classes for the sec 2s in my school ..so I'll be teaching them and have a class of my own!hopefully when i graduate i can come back and teach as a real job. (meaning get paid)..so that’s very exciting.. also this is abit random but Si Tian's bday was yday so.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!.. and oh.. for those of u who know/care.. im still getting along fine with hanafi..(whos now dance pres of SP, so u now know who to look for if ur thinking of going to SP).. in a weird sort of way..

will someone please update the committee thing? cos i wanna noe who's who now.. i think it would be nice to have a continution from that list..what do u guys think?

hows the syf going? trash their asses girls! wendy tells me this year's costume is sexy.. and damn right it should be.. dancers at css are always hot.. its a tradition!.. u noe when u audition at the start of the year? we totally take looks into account.. ;) ...

hey girls!

it's been a loooong time since i last posted!!

your performance is coming up next week!!i'll be going to watch!!just wanna let all of u know, no matter how small a part u play, as long as u can do the small part well, make an impact, everybody will still give u the deserved recognition!!example was the choir concert 2-3 yrs back? our seniors made such an great impact that people not only talk about choir but talked about our seniors' performance! so u guys can let it happen again! i know that the waiting time and everything suck..but just hang on ok!!keep the high energy level while waiting, and give it your best when your turn comes!!ensure that u can b proud of ur performance, and when this concert is mentioned years later, ensure that the first few things mentioned will be your item! all the best for the performance ok!!

as for the sec 4s, i can totally relate to your feelings!!i've been through it.=((but don't worry, after leaving dance, look back, and u'll find that u r a very fortunate person, because u have so many beautiful memories to bring away, and so many wonderful experience and lessons learnt through out these years in dance,be grateful, and feel fortunate=))

hello dancers! lynn here.im leaving soon!!! boo hoo, sorry couldnt see u guys today i still have things to attend to. im gonna miss everyone loads but i'll be sure to visit u all in june when i come back for holiday.

anyway linda, im glad u've come to diss us. i can really see now how protective my junoirs r of dance. u've united us once again in more ways than one. it was silly of u to think u can take on the whole hoard of dancers knowing how feisty we can all get. we got gold because we trained hard n also of course we're so pretty the judges could not deny us the gold.i heard u dance ballet too. its a shame u went to band where u do not stand out from the others, on the other hand if u joined dance, u may have a place in css like the seniors before u.then again no one is regretting ur choice to join band- except of cos the band members.inflexibility is only juz a small part of wat dance is about.im sure u a ballet dancer should know that.and minyi is not to only person who can dance in dance.no doubt bt tt, but have u seen our president dance? or the president before her? there is alot of talent in dance society. i pity you for while u have been dancing ballet for god knows how many years, u certainly do not have an eye for good dancers.if u do, u'd find dance talents in abudance here. anyway u sure are very fortunate because i have already graduated n u dun have to life ur life in css in utter misery.

i was online talking to her and she told me about it.

so i definitely had to go check it out myyself.
to clarify things.YES indeed she wrote such things about dance.
like why would she say such things?!

well, you can say that maybe we are just

after the mondae's perfromance we to0k a foto
was feelin kinda sadd when i saw it.

err yea as i was saein.erm we did syf as a whole
bt the pic hadd onlaye half of the actual team
it wasnt fair.i missh the seniors.
they put in hardwork n effort.
yy din they take the pic after our syf.
yy now when all r gone.hais.
n now the sec3s r gonna leave us soon
time passes to0 faz.i wan it to stopp.
bt its to0 late.juz to0 late...
wifout the sec3s 4 the past 3 practice
was kinda hard at the start.
cos moz of time it was them to get the sec1s movin
n disciplin n all tt.
i wasnt prepared.i wasnt readie to stand in front of them
n tell them to go to positions n stuff
i felt i had no right.bt after the 1st lesson
i gt used to it.they r so stubborn
dun they understand english at all?!

at least the costume has OUR names written on it.
And the costumes would fit no one as well as us, that's something to be proud of already! =D
Just pray that we'll get another chance tuh perform?
Very so0n we'll be leaving the school... dun even think we'll get to perform in the big css event next year. how sad. =(

How's dance going? Seem to miss dance alot. Havent attended for 3 practices already!
Heard about the sec1s even attitude.. o.O wow.
hahas, anyway, changed a layout.. hope its better than the previous one.

As I was putting away all the costumes on monday, it just occured to me how much memories are tucked away in the storeroom along with those sequined dresses. I felt so sad. seriously, just this empty feeling, somewhat a hollowness clouded me. It would be the very last time we ever get to wear that costume. That costume that fitted me so well. That costume that became part of me in such a short period but yet, I felt as if it belonged to me right from the start of the journey that we embarked on. Although it brought back painful memories of tears, I got to make it clear that I am proud to be part off css chinese dance society.

The costumes I might not be able to touch the texture anymore, the headress that i'll never adorn again, the earrings that might not connect with my ears again, it's all inside my mind, the memories will never fade......

Everyone lets do our best just like how we did today kie?
Today's rehearsal was fantastic yay!

Tian Ju dropped by to see us, so happy.
And lao shi praised us!! she says she hopes to see us dance just as well as this.
And also, she said that we were SUPPOSED to get the gold with honours.
and she sounded so dead sure about that.
So happy! Even she agrees that the judges are cock-eyed =pp
Yupyup, as long as tcher has faith in us its enough right? we ARE the honours standard.

Guess we really lacked confidence that day at SAJC, seeing all the other performances.
I was very inconfident as well.
But since teacher said that those dances were copiedd, it felt better.

Hmms. For the last saturday practice, I think that it was one of the most fruitful practices.
First we had warm-up.
Then we grouped into 3s and stretched ourselves.
After that we danced about twice with Wendy looking.
And she gave her comments, then we danced again.
Yupps.

And after a break, we danced each formation and adjusted the positions
Kinda like fine-tuned each formation.. yupyup!
Must be PROUD of us k. =PpP

Remember to go to plaz sing on 16 july ahh! =p
Then, we have performance on 9/8 at the esplanade.
the day b4, we have two performances in school, then we have to rush to esplanade for rehearsal from 2pm to 10 pm?
Lol. How sadd. Evil people, later they make us report the next day at 7am. LOL.
